The Gunpowder Mills at Roslin Glen

Regular dirties member, John Godlee, was one of the group that went to Roslin Glen on Sunday. Here’s what he had to say about it;

“Our foray into the gunpowder mills at Roslin Glen was loads of fun, there had been quite a bit of storm damage over the Christmas period so we all got very muddy digging drainage ditches and repairing the paths, this meant lots of mattocking and racing wheelbarrows, facepainting ensued! Roslin was beautiful, the sun shone, the air was crisp and the spring buds are just beginning to poke through the leaf litter, it’ll be spring before you know it. As always we limped back to the Auld Hoose to discuss all things outdoorsy and eat our own body weight in nachos. Tired but content…”

It appears as though it was another successful project. We will be back in Roslin Glen on the 23rd of February!

Also a reminder of the ceilidh a week today (28th), and as always we will be meeting in the Auld Hoose on Thursday from 9pm.

From the Project Coordinators:

We hope that you’ve all had a lovely Christmas and an excellent new years!
We’re back this Sunday (19th) with our first project of 2014 and we almost can’t contain our excitement!
This Sunday we’ll be heading to Roslin Glen gunpowder mills to do some path maintenance and clearing as they’ve suffered under the heavy rain and wind over Christmas. The weather is supposed to be good so it looks like we’ll have a cracking first project!
We meet at 10 am at our tool cupboard which is next to the CSE gym at the pleasance (directions in footnote). If this is your first project please don’t worry we’ll keep our eyes pealed for you all.
Please bring smiles, drinking water, sturdy foot wear and waterproofs just in case – we’ll supply all the rest.

.

There is also a committee meeting this Thursday. If you want anything to be discussed at the meeting, talk to a committee member or send an e-mail to [email protected].

The Thursday pub meeting is on this week as usual as well.

Ceilidh this month!

We have some updates regarding the ceilidh this month.

From our Social Coordinators:

It is time to get your boogie on and join us some Dirty Dancing. Located in the fabulous Teviot Debating Hall we will be having a ceilidh accompanied by the wonderful Folk Soc Ceilidh band! As well as all that fun there will inevitably be some games (see future updates).
The price is only £3!

Unfortunately we are not allowed to BYOB to this venue, but there are multiple bars located throughout Teviot to quench your thirst.

We expect to see all your best moves so happy practicing!

The Ceilidh takes place on Tuesday the 28th, and kicks off from 7:30pm (in Teviot Debating Hall). Bring friends and family, as all are welcome.
