Dear Reader
Let me tell you a story. It is a modest story, about unassuming people carrying out straightforward tasks on just another simple Sunday. They lived in a world that was out of control; despite their deepest wishes and facebook posts, Donald Trump would soon become President Elect of the United States of America, the United Kingdom continued to shrug at the Syrian refugee crises and regardless of all the good talk the world flaunted its apathy for climate change (except Germany – Germany is cool yo). Against this backdrop, against the odds of living on a ball of rock and metal flying through the vastness of space and time around a nuclear reactor nearly 700,000 km across, which itself orbits a black hole at the centre of the Milky Way, in a universe which will one day, we are told, snap shut, close and die… our hero’s quietly set about their tasks, meeting demands not made, handing out smiles where they could, making their planet that much of a better place and, in the most honourable and honest sense, having good, clean fun. These, my friend, are the voyages of the Dirty Weekenderers.

And thusly so it came to pass that the prophesy cast on Wednesday through the medium of facebook about the meeting at pleasance on Sunday at 10 am came true to pass. Then we got on a bus, met a Ranger “who was a little bit out there”, cleared some weeds, planted some bulbs, and cut down a tree because it was vaguely near a bridge. Nice!
