Report on Inzievar Wood Project

Here is a recap of last week from ‘El Presidente’, Anna Webber:

“Last weekend, we went to a lovely new site out near Dunfermline called Inzievar Wood. After a bit of a walk through some woods, we started our rhodie bashing. We were removing the leftover and regrown plants after a professional crew had been in to get the majority of the plants. While it didn’t have the same excitement as demolishing a full-grown rhododendron plant several times bigger than a person, it was still surprisingly satisfactory to be able to rip the smaller rhodies out of the ground. The day never fully made up its mind about whether it really wanted to rain or not, but we also had some sunny patches! Tasty biscuits kept us going throughout the day, thanks to John and Morna. Hopefully we’ll go back to Inzievar Wood in the future and ensure that no more rhodies have returned!”

Photos (hopefully) to come soon.

Remember we have a social on the 20th March. All details can be found  here.

Sunday’s project at Aberlady Bay

Spring is finally upon us, so what could be better than conservation work? This Sunday we will head to Aberlady Bay LNR in East Lothian. Here is a message from our projects team:

” Beach: a pebbly or sandy shore, especially by the sea between high- and low-water marks. Beaches are happy don’t you think? I mean the sea is great and sand is fun, so when you stick them together happy times can be had for all involved! Happy Happy times.

This weekend marks the Amaza-Dirty-conservation-helpy-things Sunday trip to Aberlady Bay which for those who don’t know is a beautiful beach with some great sand dunes and a nature reserve! We will be once again clearing the horror of the sea buckthorn (the terror). This is one of our favourite locations to visit so you (yes you, talking to you) should put on your valiant gauntlets (sturdy footwear) grab your shield of valour (waterproofs just in case) and mount your noble steed of defiance (in the form of a minibus or public transport), and we will bring a small armoury.

The usual meeting point is no different, be at the gatehouse to the castle at dawn (Pleasance tool cupboard at 10am this coming Sunday the 9th) and have a brilliant day. I hope to see all you amazing people there!”

Sundays Project – Inzievar Wood

This Sundays project brought to you by Nina:
“This Sunday we are heading across the Forth to Inzievar Wood – an extremely exciting brand new site in Fife just outside Oakley! Here we’ll be beating, braking, blitzing, bruising and bashing Rhododendron Ponticum – everyone’s favourite invader.
If you’re all the keen beans that we know you are, come to the tool cupboard next the the CSE on the Pleasance at 10 am on Sunday with waterproofs, appropriate footwear and drinking water and you’ll be whisked off on yet another unforgettable outdoor adventure!
Bambam out!
PS: Although I am in fact not Bambam, I have decided that all future project emails will end thus regardless – cause his sign out is infinitely cooler than anyone else’s. N. “
